Whitby, Ontario - On May 26, Durham Region Transit (DRT) recognized 31 operators, virtually, at Regional Council with a Safe Driver Award. This award is for their dedication to safety and efforts; ensuring roads in Durham Region remain safe for transit customers, residents and visitors.
The Safe Driver Awards publicly honour DRT operators who have achieved safe driving milestones of five, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 years, without a preventable collision.
Throughout 2020, DRT employees drove over 11 million kilometres—providing an essential service supporting the wide-ranging COVID-19 response efforts during unprecedented times. These remarkable achievements are a testament to the dedication of DRT employees who serve their community with a safety-first mentality.
