Whitby, Ontario – On June 7, members of the Durham Region Transit Executive Committee (TEC) met to discuss various Durham Region Transit (DRT) initiatives and updates. Details and highlights include:
- DRT recognized at accessibility conference: On June 3, the Accessible Durham Conference recognized DRT for helping to improve accessibility throughout Durham Region. This acknowledges our programs and services, such as technology and equipment to make transit vehicles and infrastructure accessible; or our travel training program for customers who want to understand how to effectively use the transit system.
- 2022 Safe Driver Awards: DRT's Senior Management Team is pleased to recognize operators receiving 2022 Safe Driver Awards. Last year, 27 DRT operators achieved safe driving milestones.
- Apprenticeship Program: A formal apprenticeship program for Truck and Coach Technicians was endorsed during the meeting. This will help ensure DRT continues to recruit and develop skilled mechanics to provide a reliable transit fleet to support DRT’s projected growth.
- Youth Summer Pass: Customers who are 13 to 19 years of age can purchase the 2-for-1 Summer Youth Pass beginning June 21, for $93.50—that’s two monthly passes for the cost of one. Visit DurhamRegionTransit.com/2for1Pass for more information.
- June 19 service changes: On June 19, service updates will be implemented on several DRT routes to improve connections on select routes and adjust for seasonal demand. View all updates at DurhamRegionTransit.com/JuneUpdates.
