- Summary from the 2024 Public Information Centre Series: In March and April, DRT hosted a series of Public Information Centre sessions to gather feedback from more than 700 community members on various transit-related topics. The sessions covered route expansions, accessibility improvements, and future service enhancements. DRT appreciates the valuable input received from residents and stakeholders during these events. Staff will assemble the feedback, along with input received through Customer Service over the past few months, when planning for September service updates and future service plans.
- DRT continues to recruit and train staff: New employees are required to deliver the increase in annual revenue service hours approved in the 2024 budget. The new service hours will start to be implemented with the September service change.
- Fare and Service Integration Collaboration Table update: The Ministry of Transportation Fare and Service Integration Collaboration Table reconvened to discuss plans and priorities for the 2024-2025 period. The province has broadened participation to include representatives from transit agencies across the Greater Golden Horseshoe and identified fare integration, service integration and specialized transit as priorities.
- Rapid Transit: Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: Region of Durham staff, on behalf of the Region’s Rapid Transit Office, shared an update on project milestones for the Durham Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit and Simcoe Street Rapid Transit projects.
