Whitby, Ontario – The new Durham Region Transit (DRT) On Demand application (app) will be available to download and use in the coming weeks, as part of DRT’s new trip scheduling platform.
The new app will be available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play on August 21. Customers will be required to use the new app to schedule trips for after 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 3. To ensure a successful transition to the new app, On Demand wait times may be longer than usual from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 3.
Customers should continue using the current app to book and track On Demand trips until 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 3.
The new app will operate the same way as the current one: customers will indicate where and when they are travelling, and trip proposals will be presented. If those trips include On Demand, customers will be able to book the pickup. Additional trip planning features will also be available through the new app to help plan trips that involve a combination of On Demand and scheduled bus routes.
Overall, On Demand service will remain the same—available in the same areas around the same times—consistent with the availability of scheduled bus routes. Adjustments to trip planning features will provide new options for connecting with scheduled bus routes, and improved alignment between On Demand and scheduled service at the start and end of scheduled service availability.
