WHITBY, ON (May 9, 2018) – Earlier today, a record 43 DRT Operators were recognized for their dedication to safety and efforts to ensure that the roads in Durham Region remain safe for residents and visitors. The Safe Driver Awards were celebrated at a meeting of Regional Council.
The Safe Driver Awards were established in 2015 as a way to publicly honour DRT Operators celebrating safe driving milestones of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years without a single preventable collision. This year’s 43 recipients played one of the most significant roles in safely moving more than 10 million passengers over 13 million kilometres across the Region, each year! These remarkable achievements are a testament to the dedication of the men and women honoured today, who serve their community with a safety-first mentality.
